Why facilitator concentration matters
A facilitator verifies x402 payment payloads and settles them on-chain, so resource servers don't have to run blockchain infrastructure. That convenience creates a structural question: if most settlements route through one or two facilitators, the 'open' payment standard has a de-facto gatekeeper layer. The share table on this page is the live answer, measured from which facilitator addresses actually initiate settlements.
Facilitator identity comes from a community-maintained on-chain registry, so new entrants appear in the measurement as they start settling. Share is computed over transaction counts; a facilitator specializing in fewer, larger payments will rank lower here than by volume.
