What is the market cap of AI agent tokens?

All stats

As of August 12, 2026, a curated basket of 4 agent-protocol tokens (VIRTUAL, FET, KITE, OLAS) carries a combined market capitalisation of $919,257,249 on $98,405,678 of 24-hour trading volume. The broad exchange “AI agent” category is far larger at $2,771,249,529, but it is memecoin-contaminated and is shown only as contrast. Market data is off-chain context and is kept separate from the measured on-chain activity elsewhere on this site.

Why a curated basket, not the category

Exchange listings carry a broad “AI agent” category whose market cap runs far higher than the figure on this page. That number is not usable: the category is heavily contaminated by memecoins that reference agents in their branding and have no agent infrastructure behind them. Quoting it would measure narrative, not the sector.

The basket here is deliberately small and named, covering tokens attached to protocols this site independently measures on-chain. It will understate any broad definition of the sector, and that is the trade being made: a smaller number you can audit beats a bigger one you cannot.

Market cap is not the agent economy

Token market cap prices expectations about a sector's future. The on-chain figures elsewhere on this site measure what agents have already done. They move independently and frequently in opposite directions, which is precisely why this site keeps the off-chain market lens separate from the measured on-chain activity rather than blending them into one headline.

Also asked

Why is your agent token market cap lower than the one I saw elsewhere?

Most published figures use an exchange's broad AI-agent category, which sweeps in tokens whose only connection to agents is the name. This page uses a named basket of tokens attached to protocols measured on-chain here, so it is smaller and checkable rather than larger and vague.
